The Phoenicia group specialize in the importing, packaging, distribution and production of various types of foods. In order to meet ever growing demand, Phoenicia Group partnered with Metro Richelieu, a leader in the Quebec supermarket sector and hired SODECO to build their new 32 000 SQFT warehousing and food production facility, specializing in the roasting of various types of foods.

As is the case with most of our key projects, SODECO was present in the project from the very beginning, during the preliminary design stages. It took several meetings with the master roasters, production personnel and roasting line manufacturer in order for the design and construction teams to better understand the client’s needs, production processes and food production standards to be taken into account in the final design.

Although the project was delivered on time, managing the construction schedule was a challenge due to the several design changes that occurred during construction phase as a result of having to coordinate the building’s electro-mechanical requirements along with those of the roasting line being produced overseas. Furthermore, the construction had to be planned carefully in order not to interrupt the client’s ongoing operations in the adjacent building.
